Native Youth Salmon Summit
The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission convened a Native Youth Salmon Summit October 2024 in the Don Hatch Youth Center on the Tulalip Indian Reservation. The mission of the Native Youth Salmon Summit was to bring together tribal youth and reconnect them with salmon culture, plant the seeds for career paths in environmental stewardship, and present educational and career opportunities to enhance the future for all people. With support from the NOAA Office of Research, Transition, and Application (ORTA), as well as the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL), I participated in both days of the event and provided outreach materials, a CopterSonde drone display, and an interactive virtual reality (VR) experience for students and adults alike.
NOAA DAY AT FAMU Developmental research School
In April 2024, I coordinated the inaugural NOAA Day at the FAMU K-12 Developmental Research School in Tallahassee, Florida. FAMU-DRS prepares and motivates students for a rapidly evolving digital world with a curriculum that emphasizes mathematics, science, technology, and foreign languages.
